Hopson is a member of Mia's Gang, and a major antagonist in Five Whole Nights at Mia's.

Appearance

Hopson is a light-skinned humanoid character with short, dark green hair and beady black eyes. He wears a green bowler hat with a light green band, a green tailcoat with a green undershirt, and green pants. He also wears white gloves and brown shoes. He is often seen with a green guitar.

Personality

Hopson's personality is mostly unknown, but he's a talented guitarist who likes to crack a bad joke or two every now and then. He also has a tendency to briefly start bouncing off the walls, in a literal sense, whenever he trips over, a side effect of his body being slightly more rubbery and elastic than the others.

Behavior

Five Whole Nights at Mia's

Normal Nights

Hopson first becomes active on Night 1, at 1 AM. He starts onstage in CAM 1. He will then get off of the stage and onto CAM 2. From there, he can either go to CAM 9 or CAM 4. If he is on CAM 9 on this night, he will always go to CAM 4 next. From there, he will go to CAM 6, CAM 5, then to the left door, making quiet footsteps on the left as he does. You must shut the door on him and wait for him to make footsteps again, indicating that he has left. If the door isn't closed in time, he will get in, disable the door buttons, and jumpscare you a few seconds later, resulting in a game over. If blocked successfully, Hopson will return to the stage and restart his cycle.

From Night 2 onwards, if Hopson ever gets in CAM 9, he will attempt to mess with the generator instead of going to CAM 4. When he is fiddling with the generator, an alarm will play to alert his presence. The player has to shock him to make him stop, causing him to go to CAM 4. If he isn't shocked in time, he will cut off the entire building's power, after which a jumpscare from Mia is unavoidable if the night doesn't end first. The player must also be careful not to use the shock button too early, as it has a 20-second cooldown and uses 1% of the building's power.

There is a bias system in Hopson's A.I. that starts at 0 when the night begins, and can either be at -1, 0 or 1. The bias will activate whenever Hopson is about to move from CAM 2 to another room. If the bias counter is at -1, Hopson will always go into CAM 4, no matter what. If the bias is at 0, Hopson will randomly pick either CAM 9 or CAM 4. If the bias is at 1, Hopson will always go to CAM 9. The bias counter goes up by 1 when Hopson is sent back to the stage, and is set to -2 when he is shocked in CAM 9, preventing him from accessing the generator the next time he gets off the stage. In simple terms, Hopson can only enter the generator room once every 2-3 cycles.

Task 1

During Task 1, Hopson appears every so often on the left side of the area behind the player. He makes quiet footstep noises when he appears. The player must listen for his footsteps and turn around and shine the flashlight at him to stop him from killing them.
